Oudtshoorn, known as the "ostrich capital of the world," is a town located in the Western Cape province of South Africa. The town was significantly developed during two ostrich-feather booms, from 1865-1870 and 1900-1914. With a population of approximately 60,000, it is the largest town in the Little Karoo region. The economy of Oudtshoorn primarily depends on ostrich farming and tourism. The town boasts the world's largest ostrich population, with several specialized ostrich breeding farms, including the Safari Show Farm and the Highgate Ostrich Show Farm.
